MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 376.62million shares were traded in 11,576 deals, with a market value of N11.888billion. This represents a 18% decrease in volume, a 18% increase in value, and a 20% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 65.47 trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 104,187.00 basis points, reflecting a decrease of 189.73 basis points (0.18%) but a YTD increase of 1.22% from the previous day’s 104,376.73 basis points.
Total of 126 NGX-listed equities were traded, resulting in a positive market sentiment with 33 gainers and 23 losers. VFD Group led the gainers with a 10% increase, closing at NGN 72.60 per share, followed by Livestock Feeds (+10%), Nigerian Exchange Group (+9.86%), and Wapic Insurance (+9.6%). On the losing side, Haldane McCall recorded the highest decline, falling by 10% to close at NGN 5.22 per share. Other notable losers included Learn Africa (-10%), Ecobank Transnational (-9.9%), and PZ Cussons Nigeria (-9.88%). In terms of trading activity, Guaranty Trust Holding posted the highest volume with 62.9 million shares, followed by Access Holdings (51.4 million), Zenith Bank (32.3 million), and United Bank for Africa (22.6 million).
