MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 640.08Million shares were traded in 19,727 deals, with a market value of N26.012billion. This represents a 19% decrease in volume, a 1% increase in value, and a 15% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 73.68trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 116,786.87basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,876.71basis points (1.63%) but a YTD increase of 13.83% from the previous day’s 114,910.16basis points.
In total,  130 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 37 gainers and 31 losers. N.E.M. Insurance Company led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 16.50 per share, followed by Seplat Petroleum Development Co. (+9.78%), Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (+9.73%) and Linkage Assurance (+9.56%). On the losing side, Eterna came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 38.70 per share, followed by Secure Electronic Technology (-9.68%), Legend Internet (-9.66%) and FTN Cocoa Processors (-6.07%). Zenith Bank recorded the highest volume of 150 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (48.6m), United Bank for Africa (43m) and Nigerian Breweries (37.7m).
