MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.005Billion shares were traded in 23,281 deals, with a market value of N24.655billion. This represents a 142% increase in volume, a 90% increase in value, and a 8% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN89.87trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 142,036.23basis points, reflecting an increase of 489.43basis points (0.35%) but a YTD increase of 37.52% from the previous day’s 141,546.80basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 26 gainers and 32 losers. Chellarams led the gainers with 9.77% share price appreciation closing at NGN 14.60 per share, followed by Austin Laz & Company (+9.67%), The Initiates (+8.08%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (+7.37%). On the losing side, Guinea Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.7% at NGN 1.49 per share, followed by Cornerstone Insurance Company (-8.68%), Legend Internet (-7.27%) and Deap Capital Management & Trust (-7.06%). Abbey Mortgage Bank recorded the highest volume of 401 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (255m), United Bank for Africa (23.2m) and First HoldCo (22.5m).
