MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 767.73Million shares were traded in 24,837 deals, with a market value of N40.642billion. This represents a 16% inecrease in volume, a 225% increase in value, and a 2% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN88.81trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 140,365.36basis points, reflecting an increase of 569.25basis points (0.41%) but a YTD increase of 36.37% from the previous day’s 139,796.11basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 37 gainers and 26 losers. Chellarams led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 12.10 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (+10%), Berger Paints (+9.86%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (+8.91%). On the losing side, May & Baker Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.97% at NGN 16.25 per share, followed by Union Dicon Salt (-9.72%), C&I Leasing (-7.69%) and Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (-7.04%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 288 million traded shares, followed by Nigerian Breweries (50.5m), Aradel Holdings (43.4m) and Access Holdings (40.3m).
