MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 659.17Million shares were traded in 25,334 deals, with a market value of N12.510billion. This represents a 30% decrease in volume, a 30% decrease in value, and a 30% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN88.45trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 139,769.11basis points, reflecting an increase of 401.36basis points (0.60%) but a YTD increase of 35.82% from the previous day’s 139,394.75basis points
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 19 losers. Regency Alliance Insurance led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.43 per share, followed by MeCure Industries (+9.92%), E-Tranzact International (+9.73%) and Daar Communications (+9.57%). On the losing side, Unilever Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.79% at NGN 63.15 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (-9.4%), Ellah Lakes (-8.76%) and Linkage Assurance (-6.85%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 202 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (63.1m), First HoldCo (44.2m) and Regency Alliance Insurance (31m).
