MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.028Billion shares were traded in 38,932 deals, with a market value of N22.836billion. This represents a 27% increase in volume, a 17% increase in value, and a 8% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN91.61trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 144,796.37basis points, reflecting an increase of 724.59basis points (0.50%) but a YTD increase of 40.68% from the previous day’s 144,071.78basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 52 gainers and 22 losers. BUA Cement led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 170.50 per share, followed by Nigerian Enamelware (+10%), Neimeth International Pharma (+10%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (+10%). On the losing side, LivingTrust Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.86% at NGN 5.94 per share, followed by UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust (-9.63%), Academy Press (-9.6%) and MeCure Industries (-9.2%). Aiico Insurance recorded the highest volume of 97.1 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (87.3m), Linkage Assurance (64m) and Fidelity Bank (59.2m).
