MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 940.80Million shares were traded in 28,358 deals, with a market value of N30,626.8billion. This represents a 18% increase in volume, a 32% increase in value, and a 25% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN87.19trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 137,912.87basis points, reflecting an increase of 940.80basis points (2.03%) but a YTD increase of 33.99% from the previous day’s 135,166.51basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 51 gainers and 25 losers. Berger Paints led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 34.10 per share, followed by Learn Africa (+10%), Haldane McCall (+10%) and Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (+10%). On the losing side, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 93.15 per share, followed by Abbey Mortgage Bank (-10%), Vitafoam Nigeria (-9.96%) and Industrial & Medical Gases (-9.93%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 111 million traded shares, followed by Royal Exchange (74.1m), Jaiz Bank (60.9m) and Universal Insurance Company (38.3m).
