MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 733.05million shares were traded in 16,619 deals, with a market value of N35.288billion. This represents a 46% increase in volume, a 191% increase in value, and a 6% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 66.58trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 105,931.18basis points, reflecting a decrease of 185basis points (0.17%) but a YTD increase of 2.92% from the previous day’s 106,116.18basis points.
In total, 125 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 33 gainers and 20 losers. Legend Internet led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 8.25 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (+9.94%), Cadbury Nigeria (+9.91%) and Champion Breweries (+9.79%). On the losing side, Livestock Feeds came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.71% at NGN 7.72 per share, followed by Multiverse Mining & Exploration (-9.62%), McNichols (-9.47%) and Omatek Ventures (-9.23%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 285 million traded shares, followed by MTN Nigeria (86.9m), Access Holdings (35.6m) and Universal Insurance Company (29.8m).
