MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 409.57Million shares were traded in 15,992 deals, with a market value of N9.870billion. This represents a 1% decrease in volume, a 11% decrease in value, and a 19% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 70.38trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 111,606.22basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,721.30basis points (1.57%) but a YTD increase of 8.43% from the previous day’s 109,884.92basis points.
In total, 126 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 21 losers. Airtel Africa led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2,372.50 per share, followed by Omatek Ventures (+9.23%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (+8.63%) and Nigerian Aviation Handling Co. (+8.39%). On the losing side, McNichols came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.8% at NGN 2.21 per share, followed by Computer Warehouse Group (-9.5%), Champion Breweries (-7.38%) and Red Star Express (-4.62%). Custodian & Allied recorded the highest volume of 37.6 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (37m), Veritas Kapital Assurance (33m) and Zenith Bank (27.4m).
