MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 497.06million shares were traded in 18,795 deals, with a market value of N13.213billion. This represents a 2% increase in volume, a 16% increase in value, and a 24% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 68.97trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 109,730.47basis points, reflecting an increase of 32.64basis points (0.03%) but a YTD increase of 6.61% from the previous day’s 109,697.83basis points.
In total, 126 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 31 gainers and 32 losers. Nestle Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1,464.10 per share, followed by Tripple Gee & Co. (+10%), Regency Alliance Insurance (+10%) and Tantalizers (+9.88%). On the losing side, Berger Paints came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.98% at NGN 21.20 per share, followed by Mutual Benefits Assurance (-9.8%), Associated Bus Company (-9.77%) and Aradel Holdings (-8.55%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 60.2 million traded shares, followed by United Bank for Africa (36.4m), Custodian & Allied (35.6m) and Tantalizers (27.6m).
