MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.983Billion shares were traded in 35,291 deals, with a market value of N27.262billion. This represents a 27% decrease in volume, a 17% decrease in value, and a 0.4% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN92.73trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 146,570.71basis points, reflecting an increase of 756.85basis points (0.52%) but a YTD increase of 42.40% from the previous day’s 145,813.86basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 44 gainers and 34 losers. AXA Mansard Insurance led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 13.31 per share, followed by Cornerstone Insurance Company (+10%), University Press (+10%) and Aiico Insurance (+10%). On the losing side, Chams came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.94% at NGN 2.90 per share, followed by Austin Laz & Company (-9.83%), Caverton Offshore Support Group (-9.65%) and UAC of Nigeria (-9.44%). Linkage Assurance recorded the highest volume of 372 million traded shares, followed by Prestige Assurance Company (249m), Veritas Kapital Assurance (182m) and Sterling Bank (121m).
