MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.647Billion shares were traded in 26,176 deals, with a market value of N19.099billion. This represents a 148% increase in volume, a 47% increase in value, and a 35% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 68.62trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 109,183.02basis points, reflecting a decrease of 436.08basis points (0.40%) but a YTD increase of 6.08% from the previous day’s 109,619.10basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 22 gainers and 36 losers. Union Homes Real Estate Inv. led the gainers with 9.97% share price appreciation closing at NGN 50.75 per share, followed by Red Star Express (+9.91%), RT Briscoe (+9.57%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (+9.38%). On the losing side, Chellarams came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.96% at NGN 11.75 per share, followed by May & Baker Nigeria (-9.96%), Linkage Assurance (-9.88%) and Omatek Ventures (-8.82%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 137 million traded shares, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (81.7m), United Bank for Africa (60.8m) and Tantalizers (43.5m).
