MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 2.456Billion shares were traded in 43,515 deals, with a market value of N22.217billion. This represents a 83% increase in volume, a 10% increase in value, and a 42% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN91.93trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 145,300.01basis points, reflecting a decrease of 564.79basis points (0.39%) but a YTD decrease of 41.23% from the previous day’s 145,864.80basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 22 gainers and 52 losers. Juli led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 9.90 per share, followed by Austin Laz & Company (+9.91%), NCR Nigeria (+9.43%) and Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (+8.19%). On the losing side, Wema Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 20.70 per share, followed by C&I Leasing (-10%), UPDC (-10%) and Lasaco Assurance (-10%). Universal Insurance Company recorded the highest volume of 390 million traded shares, followed by Aiico Insurance (237m), Linkage Assurance (214m) and Mutual Benefits Assurance (158m).
