MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.280Billion shares were traded in 27,875 deals, with a market value of N27.727billion. This represents a 44% increase in volume, a 78% increase in value, and a 15% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 78.73trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 124,446.80basis points, reflecting an increase of 2,457.13basis points (2.01%) but a YTD increase of 20.91% from the previous day’s 121,989.67basis points.
In total, 130 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 70 gainers and 10 losers. United Bank for Africa led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 39.60 per share, followed by Caverton Offshore Support Group (+10%), FTN Cocoa Processors (+10%) and Haldane McCall (+10%). On the losing side, Neimeth International Pharma came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.91% at NGN 9.00 per share, followed by Legend Internet (-9.88%), Industrial & Medical Gases (-7.36%) and Cadbury Nigeria (-6.22%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 174 million traded shares, followed by Aiico Insurance (82m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (74m) and United Bank for Africa (64.5m).
