MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 795.59Million shares were traded in 37,626 deals, with a market value of N23,231.08billion. This represents a 11% increase in volume, a 4% decrease in value, and a 51% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN85.46trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 135,166.51basis points, reflecting an increase of 713.58basis points (0.53%) but a YTD increase of 31.32% from the previous day’s 134,452.93basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 45 gainers and 26 losers. Academy Press led the gainers with 9.99% share price appreciation closing at NGN 10.24 per share, followed by Champion Breweries (+9.98%), Tripple Gee & Co. (+9.97%) and May & Baker Nigeria (+9.94%). On the losing side, Livestock Feeds came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 8.10 per share, followed by The Initiates (-9.98%), Ellah Lakes (-9.08%) and Nigerian Exchange Group (-6.02%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 123 million traded shares, followed by FCMB Group (68.4m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (44.1m) and Zenith Bank (31m).
