MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 658.66Million shares were traded in 22,206 deals, with a market value of N21.327billion. This represents a 26% increase in volume, a 8% increase in value, and a 25% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 74.81trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 118,579.65basis points, reflecting an increase of 441.43basis points (0.37%) but a YTD increase of 15.21% from the previous day’s 118,138.22basis points.
In total,  130 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 46 gainers and 22 losers. Presco led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1,210.00 per share, followed by Beta Glass Company (+10%), Champion Breweries (+10%) and Neimeth International Pharma (+10%). On the losing side, Julius Berger Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 7.48% at NGN 117.50 per share, followed by Chams (-5.09%), Secure Electronic Technology (-5%) and Multiverse Mining & Exploration (-4.66%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 142 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (46.3m), Nigerian Breweries (38.1m) and FTN Cocoa Processors (38m).
