MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 407.98Million shares were traded in 33,859 deals, with a market value of N14.777billion. This represents a 6% decrease in volume, a 42% decrease in value, and a 32% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN88.41trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 139,722.19basis points, reflecting a decrease of 573.30basis points (0.41%) but a YTD decrease of 35.75% from the previous day’s 140,295.49basis points.
In total, 26 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 15 gainers and 33 losers. Sovereign Trust Insurance led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.86 per share, followed by SCOA Nigeria (+9.83%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (+7.98%) and Guinea Insurance (+7.75%). On the losing side, Eterna came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 34.20 per share, followed by Ellah Lakes (-10%), Veritas Kapital Assurance (-10%) and Chams (-9.56%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 55.8 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (31.9m), Fidelity Bank (26.2m) and Secure Electronic Technology (22.4m).
