MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 721.75Million shares were traded in 22,100 deals, with a market value of N22.011billion. This represents a 23% decrease in volume, a 23% increase in value, and a 8% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 72.68trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 115,258.77basis points, reflecting a decrease of 170.37basis points (0.15%) but a YTD decrease of 11.98% from the previous day’s 115,429.54basis points.
In total, 125 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 21 gainers and 43 losers. Guinea Insurance led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.77 per share, followed by Ellah Lakes (+9.93%), Legend Internet (+9.87%) and Royal Exchange (+9.68%). On the losing side, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 101.30 per share, followed by C&I Leasing (-9.68%), University Press (-9.27%) and Deap Capital Management & Trust (-8.99%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 92.7 million traded shares, followed by United Bank for Africa (91.4m), Zenith Bank (76.8m) and Fidelity Bank (50m).
