MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.287Billion shares were traded in 39,431 deals, with a market value of N32.205billion. This represents a 7% decrease in volume, a 5% increase in value, and a 18% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 80.14trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 126,689.54basis points, reflecting an increase of 539.95basis points (0.43%) but a YTD increase of 23.09% from the previous day’s 126,149.59basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 43 gainers and 38 losers. Secure Electronic Technology led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.10 per share, followed by Abbey Mortgage Bank (+9.99%), Ikeja Hotel (+9.95%) and McNichols (+9.92%). On the losing side, Caverton Offshore Support Group came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 7.20 per share, followed by Cutix (-10%), RT Briscoe (-10%) and Tantalizers (-10%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 138 million traded shares, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (93.4m), Aiico Insurance (93.4m) and United Bank for Africa (68.8m).
