MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 2.116Billion shares were traded in 40,435 deals, with a market value of N19.400billion. This represents a 6% decrease in volume, a 40% decrease in value, and a 015% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN92.29trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 145,880.77basis points, reflecting an increase of 125.86basis points (0.09%) but a YTD increase of 41.80% from the previous day’s 145,754.91basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 41 gainers and 40 losers. Stanbic IBTC Holdings led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 111.10 per share, followed by The Initiates (+10%), UPDC (+10%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (+10%). On the losing side, Abbey Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 5.67 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (-10%), UAC of Nigeria (-9.99%) and Haldane McCall (-9.92%). Linkage Assurance recorded the highest volume of 704 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (231m), Aiico Insurance (155m) and Sterling Bank (120m).
