MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 459.21million shares were traded in 15,723 deals, with a market value of N11.165billion. This represents a 17% decrease in volume, a 22% decrease in value, and a 6% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 68.34trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 108,733.40basis points, reflecting an increase of 498.56basis points (0.46%) but a YTD increase of 5.64% from the previous day’s 109,231.96basis points.
In total, 126 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 34 gainers and 32 losers. Sterling Bank led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 6.05 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (+10%), Chellarams (+9.94%) and Academy Press (+9.92%). On the losing side, Transcorp Power came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.98% at NGN 328.50 per share, followed by Haldane McCall (-9.57%), Meyer (-9.09%) and Regency Alliance Insurance (-6.78%). Tantalizers recorded the highest volume of 101 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (51.3m), Access Holdings (45.2m) and Zenith Bank (21.8m).
