NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR FRIDAY, 2ND JANUARY, 2025
MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 439.95Billion shares were traded in 40,245 deals, with a market value of N24.971billion. This represents a 64% decrease in volume, a 29% decrease in value, and a 44% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN99.94trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 156,492.36 basis points, reflecting an increase of 879.33basis points (0.57%) but a YTD increase of 48.99% from the previous day’s 155,613.03basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 53 gainers and 10 losers. FTN Cocoa Processors led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 5.50 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (+10%), Mutual Benefits Assurance (+10%) and Deap Capital Management & Trust (+10%). On the losing side, Abbey Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.25% at NGN 6.00 per share, followed by FCMB Group (-4.56%), Seplat Petroleum Development Co. (-3.43%) and Guinea Insurance (-2.26%). Chams recorded the highest volume of 120 million traded shares, followed by Linkage Assurance (21.2m), Lasaco Assurance (19.5m) and Aradel Holdings (15.6m).
