MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 547.57 million shares were traded in 13,244 deals, with a market value of N21.617billion. This represents a 29% increase in volume, a 135% increase in value, and a 16% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 66.26 trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 105,660.64 basis points, reflecting an increase of 234.52 basis points (0.23%) but a YTD increase of 2.43% from the previous day’s 105,426.12 basis points.
Total of 126 NGX-listed equities were traded, resulting in 24 gainers and 33 losers. Abbey Mortgage Bank and UPDC led the gainers with a 10% increase, closing at NGN 4.73 per share and NGN 1.76 per share, respectively. Northern Nigeria Flour Mills followed closely with a 9.96% gain, while Mutual Benefits Assurance appreciated by 9.38%. On the losing side, Africa Prudential recorded the highest decline, dropping by 10% to close at NGN 13.05 per share, alongside International Energy Insurance, which also fell by 10%. Cadbury Nigeria lost 9.42%, while UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust declined by 9.09%. In terms of trading volume, Mutual Benefits Assurance led with 73.9 million shares traded, followed by Cutix (72 million shares), Guaranty Trust Holding (67.8 million shares), and Fidelity Bank (47.6 million shares).
