MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 713.72Million shares were traded in 24,880 deals, with a market value of N24,234.03billion. This represents a 13% decrease in volume, a 7% increase in value, and a 8% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN85.06trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 134,452.93basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,252.94basis points (0.94%) but a YTD increase of 30.63% from the previous day’s 133,199.99basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 48 gainers and 22 losers. Unilever Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 68.20 per share, followed by Ikeja Hotel (+10%), Champion Breweries (+10%) and Nigerian Enamelware (+9.98%). On the losing side, Tripple Gee & Co. came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 3.51 per share, followed by Tantalizers (-8.55%), Sunu Assurances Nigeria (-6.64%) and Ecobank Transnational (-5.88%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 42.4 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (40.7m), Tantalizers (32.2m) and Guaranty Trust Holding (28.7m).
