MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 428.08million shares were traded in 14,284 deals, with a market value of N20.175billion. This represents a 30% increase in volume, a 95% increase in value, and a 18% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 66.47trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 105,752.61basis points, reflecting a decrease of 321.65basis points (0.30%) but a YTD increase of 2.75% from the previous day’s 106,074.26basis points.
In the aggregate, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 40 gainers and 16 losers. Ikeja Hotel led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 12.10 per share, followed by International Breweries (+10%), Legend Internet (+10%) and Vitafoam Nigeria (+9.93%). On the losing side, Dangote Cement came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 432.00 per share, followed by Regency Alliance Insurance (-8.06%), VFD Group (-7.57%) and Chams (-7.27%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 60.7 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (41.4m), Access Holdings (40.6m) and MTN Nigeria (33m).
