MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 522.81Million shares were traded in 17,706 deals, with a market value of N19.684billion. This represents a 42% decrease in volume, a 11% decrease in value, and a 3% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 74.53trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 118,138.22basis points, reflecting an increase of 277.09basis points (0.24%) but a YTD increase of 14.78% from the previous day’s 117,861.13basis points.
In total,  128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 27 losers. Legend Internet led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 7.92 per share, followed by Ellah Lakes (+9.9%), Champion Breweries (+9.63%) and Guinea Insurance (+8.7%). On the losing side, Sunu Assurances Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.62% at NGN 4.56 per share, followed by Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (-8%), Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (-7.83%) and Livestock Feeds (-6.9%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 38.3 million traded shares, followed by Computer Warehouse Group (25m), Zenith Bank (24.9m) and Wapic Insurance (24.4m).
