MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.079Billion shares were traded in 34,488 deals, with a market value of N26.851billion. This represents a 3% decrease in volume, a 20% decrease in value, and a 8% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN89.37trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 141,263.05basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,399.53basis points (1%) but a YTD increase of 37.25% from the previous day’s 139,863.52basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 34 gainers and 35 losers. UAC of Nigeria led the gainers with 9.96% share price appreciation closing at NGN 88.30 per share, followed by BUA Cement (+9.63%), Veritas Kapital Assurance (+9.45%) and Beta Glass Company (+9.22%). On the losing side, Dangote Sugar Refinery came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 66.15 per share, followed by Oando (-10%), Champion Breweries (-10%) and Cornerstone Insurance Company (-9.78%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 277 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (85.6m), Sterling Bank (58.4m) and Universal Insurance Company (44.7m).
