MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 3.347Billion shares were traded in 28,593 deals, with a market value of N62.388billion. This represents a 181% increase in volume, a 46% increase in value, and a 24% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN83.24trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 131,585.66basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,301.80basis points (1%) but a YTD increase of 27.84% from the previous day’s 130,283.86basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 46 gainers and 25 losers. NCR Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 6.60 per share, followed by Learn Africa (+10%), UPDC (+10%) and BUA Cement (+9.98%). On the losing side, Red Star Express came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.97% at NGN 12.92 per share, followed by Union Dicon Salt (-9.62%), Academy Press (-6.67%) and Sterling Bank (-4.34%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 1.31 billion traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (114m), Chams (92.6m) and Zenith Bank (50.7m).
