MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.389Billion shares were traded in 33,399 deals, with a market value of N30.551billion. This represents a 9% increase in volume, a 10% increase in value, and a 19% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 79.80trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 126,149.59basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,702.79basis points (1.37%) but a YTD increase of 22.56% from the previous day’s 124,446.80basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 62 gainers and 25 losers. Guinness Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 96.80 per share, followed by Cadbury Nigeria (+10%), N.E.M. Insurance Company (+10%) and Consolidated Hallmark Holdings (+10%). On the losing side, Learn Africa came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.66% at NGN 6.01 per share, followed by Tantalizers (-6.25%), Prestige Assurance Company (-6.02%) and Regency Alliance Insurance (-5.62%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 173 million traded shares, followed by Ellah Lakes (145m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (139m) and United Bank for Africa (73m).
