NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR FRIDAY, 16TH JANUARY, 2026
MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 539.88Million shares were traded in 48,023deals, with a market value of N16.717billion. This represents a 48% decrease in volume, a 47% decrease in value, and a 6% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN106.354trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 166,129.50 basis points, reflecting an increase of 72.21basis points (0.04%) but a YTD increase of 48.99% from the previous day’s 166,057.29basis points.
In total, 130 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 43 gainers and 26 losers. Red Star Express led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 13.20 per share, followed by NCR Nigeria (+9.97%), SCOA Nigeria (+9.96%) and Omatek Ventures (+9.94%). On the losing side, McNichols came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.81% at NGN 6.00 per share, followed by Legend Internet (-7.56%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (-6.48%) and C&I Leasing (-6.29%). Zenith Bank recorded the highest volume of 54.5 million traded shares, followed by Jaiz Bank (41.5m), Secure Electronic Technology (37.7m) and Access Holdings (30.5m).
