NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR MONDAY, 5TH JANUARY, 2025
MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 695.65Billion shares were traded in 56,632 deals, with a market value of N18.566billion. This represents a 58% increase in volume, a 26% decrease in value, and a 41% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN101.807trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 159,215.48 basis points, reflecting an increase of 2,723.12basis points (1.74%) but a YTD increase of 48.99% from the previous day’s 156,492.36basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 73 gainers and seven losers. Cadbury Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 64.90 per share, followed by Fidson Healthcare (+10%), PZ Cussons Nigeria (+10%) and May & Baker Nigeria (+10%). On the losing side, Juli came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.93% at NGN 7.26 per share, followed by Ikeja Hotel (-9.91%), Sunu Assurances Nigeria (-4.55%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (-2.36%). Tantalizers recorded the highest volume of 71.8 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (53.4m), Linkage Assurance (51.7m) and Chams (35m).
