MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 482.76Million shares were traded in 28,193 deals, with a market value of N19.673billion. This represents a 19% increase in volume, a 51% decrease in value, and a 9% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN87.42trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 138,159.25basis points, reflecting a decrease of 621.30basis points (0.45%) but a YTD decrease of 34.23% from the previous day’s 138,780.55basis points.
In total, 126 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 14 gainers and 44 losers. Secure Electronic Technology led the gainers with 9.09% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.96 per share, followed by Consolidated Hallmark Holdings (+8.53%), John Holt (+7.94%) and Cadbury Nigeria (+5.45%). On the losing side, Learn Africa came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 7.02 per share, followed by Legend Internet (-10%), Daar Communications (-10%) and AXA Mansard Insurance (-9.95%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 43 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (40.1m), Guaranty Trust Holding (34.8m) and United Bank for Africa (33.4m).
