MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.147Billion shares were traded in 38,160 deals, with a market value of N16.174billion. This represents a 17% decrease in volume, a 16% increase in value, and a 19% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN91.56trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 144,722.47basis points, reflecting an increase of 94.27basis points (0.07%) but a YTD decrease of 40.61% from the previous day’s 144,628.20basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 43 gainers and 27 losers. UPDC led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 7.15 per share, followed by Aiico Insurance (+10%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (+9.99%) and Deap Capital Management & Trust (+9.94%). On the losing side, Stanbic IBTC Holdings came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.99% at NGN 100.00 per share, followed by PZ Cussons Nigeria (-7.89%), N.E.M. Insurance Company (-7.85%) and Chams (-5.26%). Universal Insurance Company recorded the highest volume of 202 million traded shares, followed by Linkage Assurance (77.9m), Lasaco Assurance (66.4m) and Mutual Benefits Assurance (57.8m).
