MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.277Billion shares were traded in 31,155 deals, with a market value of N24.255billion. This represents a 40% decrease in volume, a 25% increase in value, and a 23% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN92.41trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 146,055.89basis points, reflecting an increase of 175.12basis points (0.12%) but a YTD increase of 41.90% from the previous day’s 145,880.77basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 49 gainers and 30 losers. AXA Mansard Insurance led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 17.71 per share, followed by Champion Breweries (+10%), Ellah Lakes (+10%) and The Initiates (+10%). On the losing side, Juli came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 9.00 per share, followed by Unilever Nigeria (-9.97%), Custodian & Allied (-9.55%) and Academy Press (-7.78%). Lasaco Assurance recorded the highest volume of 107 million traded shares, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (107m), Sterling Bank (97.8m) and Aiico Insurance (65m).
