MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.109Billion shares were traded in 37,370 deals, with a market value of N33.649billion. This represents a 20% increase in volume, a 5% decrease in value, and a 3% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN88.42trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 139,863.52basis points, reflecting an increase of 584.85basis points (0.42%) but a YTD increase of 35.89% from the previous day’s 139,278.67basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 28 gainers and 54 losers. UAC of Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 80.30 per share, followed by Wema Bank (+10%), Guinness Nigeria (+9.96%) and Skyway Aviation Handling Co. (+9.95%). On the losing side, The Initiates came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 13.50 per share, followed by AXA Mansard Insurance (-10%), Learn Africa (-10%) and FTN Cocoa Processors (-10%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 122 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (91.5m), Fidelity Bank (81.1m) and Regency Alliance Insurance (64.5m).
