MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 922.03Million shares were traded in 36,423 deals, with a market value of N35,396.6billion. This represents a 2% decrease in volume, a 16% increase in value, and a 28% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN88.05trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 139,278.67basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,365.80basis points (0.99%) but a YTD increase of 35.32% from the previous day’s 137,912.87basis points.
In total, 127 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 39 gainers and 32 losers. Multiverse Mining & Exploration led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 9.90 per share, followed by Royal Exchange (+10%), Dangote Sugar Refinery (+9.97%) and Berger Paints (+9.97%). On the losing side, Abbey Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 6.48 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (-10%), LivingTrust Mortgage Bank (-9.97%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (-9.61%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 90.4 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (43.1m), Universal Insurance Company (32.3m) and FCMB Group (31.8m).
