MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 771.65Million shares were traded in 32,734 deals, with a market value of N26.785billion. This represents a 9% increase in volume, a 24% increase in value, and a 7% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN83.79trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 132,451.73basis points, reflecting an increase of 624.96basis points (0.47%) but a YTD increase of 28.69% from the previous day’s 131,826.77basis points.
In total, 29 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 34 losers. Dangote Sugar Refinery led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 56.10 per share, followed by The Initiates (+9.97%), Sovereign Trust Insurance (+9.84%) and Nigerian Enamelware (+9.83%). On the losing side, Ellah Lakes came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 9.90 per share, followed by Legend Internet (-10%), FTN Cocoa Processors (-9.91%) and Meyer (-9.79%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 103 million traded shares, followed by Ellah Lakes (56.7m), United Bank for Africa (48.3m) and Guaranty Trust Holding (32.8m).
