MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.193Billion shares were traded in 37,418 deals, with a market value of N42.756billion. This represents a 4% decrease in volume, a 7% increase in value, and a 2% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 82.42trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 130,283.86basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,316.06basis points (1.02%) but a YTD increase of 26.58% from the previous day’s 128,967.80basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 30 gainers and 46 losers. BUA Cement led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 112.20 per share, followed by Dangote Cement (+9.99%), Chams (+9.96%) and First HoldCo (+9.94%). On the losing side, Berger Paints came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 33.75 per share, followed by May & Baker Nigeria (-10%), MeCure Industries (-10%) and John Holt (-10%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 168 million traded shares, followed by First HoldCo (86.4m), Zenith Bank (83.4m) and Nigerian Breweries (68.6m).
