MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 889Million shares were traded in 24,303 deals, with a market value of N15.610billion. This represents a 12% decrease in volume, a 20% decrease in value, and a 2% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.97trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 121,653.93basis points, reflecting an increase of 358.60basis points (0.28%) but a YTD increase of 18.52% from the previous day’s 121,295.33basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 59 gainers and 21 losers. Nigerian Enamelware led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 20.35 per share, followed by Red Star Express (+10%), Ellah Lakes (+10%) and C&I Leasing (+10%). On the losing side, Legend Internet came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.05% at NGN 8.00 per share, followed by Guinea Insurance (-7.14%), Eterna (-4.65%) and E-Tranzact International (-4.44%). Japaul Gold and Ventures recorded the highest volume of 137 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (83m), Aiico Insurance (50m) and Universal Insurance Company (41.9m).
