MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 824.10Million shares were traded in 24,042 deals, with a market value of N14.439billion. This represents a 11% decrease in volume, a 31% increase in value, and a 6% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.53trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 121,295.33basis points, reflecting an increase of 305.67basis points (0.25%) but a YTD increase of 17.91% from the previous day’s 120,989.66basis points.
In total, 125 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 53 gainers and 24 losers. Cadbury Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 53.35 per share, followed by Ellah Lakes (+10%), UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust (+10%) and Tripple Gee & Co. (+10%). On the losing side, Sunu Assurances Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 4.50 per share, followed by RT Briscoe (-9.59%), Prestige Assurance Company (-9.09%) and UPDC (-8.23%). Universal Insurance Company recorded the highest volume of 71.9 million traded shares, followed by FCMB Group (61.4m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (53.3m) and Access Holdings (42m).
