MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 923.87Million shares were traded in 25,680 deals, with a market value of N11.003billion. This represents a 1% decrease in volume, a 62% decrease in value, and a 6% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.34trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 120,989.66basis points, reflecting an increase of 12.46basis points (0.01%) but a YTD increase of 17.55% from the previous day’s 120,977.20basis points.
In total, 129 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 39 gainers and 28 losers. Champion Breweries led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 13.20 per share, followed by John Holt (+10%), Red Star Express (+9.99%) and Academy Press (+9.98%). On the losing side, PZ Cussons Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 32.40 per share, followed by Ellah Lakes (-10%), Japaul Gold and Ventures (-9.7%) and Royal Exchange (-9.49%). Japaul Gold and Ventures recorded the highest volume of 147 million traded shares, followed by Wapic Insurance (44.5m), Access Holdings (43.6m) and Consolidated Hallmark Holdings (42.8m).
