MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 933.40Million shares were traded in 24,207 deals, with a market value of N29.808billion. This represents a 11% decrease in volume, a 141% increase in value, and a 10% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.58trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 120,977.20basis points, reflecting an increase of 637.30basis points (0.53%) but a YTD increase of 16.92% from the previous day’s 120,339.90basis points.
In total,  128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 54 gainers and 15 losers. Berger Paints led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 33.00 per share, followed by Academy Press (+10%), Deap Capital Management & Trust (+10%) and Guinea Insurance (+10%). On the losing side, Neimeth International Pharma came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.49% at NGN 7.22 per share, followed by Legend Internet (-7.98%), Computer Warehouse Group (-4.5%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (-4.35%). Universal Insurance Company recorded the highest volume of 67.3 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (62.6m), Chams (59.7m) and Japaul Gold and Ventures (49.5m).
