MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 1.049Billion shares were traded in 21,964 deals, with a market value of N12.174billion. This represents a 99% increase in volume, a 8% increase in value, and a 2% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.18trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 120,339.9basis points, reflecting an increase of 598.67basis points (0.50%) but a YTD increase of 16.92% from the previous day’s 119,741.23basis points.
In total,  128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 60 gainers and 16 losers. Ellah Lakes led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 9.24 per share, followed by C&I Leasing (+10%), Cutix (+10%) and International Energy Insurance (+10%). On the losing side, Deap Capital Management & Trust came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.09% at NGN 1.00 per share, followed by John Holt (-5.41%), Dangote Sugar Refinery (-5.32%) and Universal Insurance Company (-4.76%). Royal Exchange recorded the highest volume of 219 million traded shares, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (174m), Ellah Lakes (83.5m) and Wema Bank (71.1m).
