MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 982.97Million shares were traded in 25,375 deals, with a market value of N18.256billion. This represents a 4% increase in volume, a 30% increase in value, and a 11% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 76.45trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 120,772.68basis points, reflecting a decrease of 485.01basis points (0.39%) but a YTD decrease of 16.38% from the previous day’s 121,257.69basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 33 gainers and 38 losers. Skye Shelter Fund led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 249.25 per share, followed by Unilever Nigeria (+10%), Neimeth International Pharma (+9.98%) and UAC of Nigeria (+9.97%). On the losing side, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 2.07 per share, followed by Nigerian Aviation Handling Co. (-9.99%), Oando (-9.96%) and Associated Bus Company (-8.92%). Ellah Lakes recorded the highest volume of 113 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (76.2m), Caverton Offshore Support Group (64.9m) and Japaul Gold and Ventures (61.6m).
