MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 868.68Million shares were traded in 22,207 deals, with a market value of N23.709billion. This represents a 32% increase in volume, a 11% increase in value, and a 0.005% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 75.58trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 119,790.82basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,211.17basis points (1.02%) but a YTD increase of 16.38% from the previous day’s 118,576.22basis points.
In total, 130 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 61 gainers and 23 losers. Okomu Oil Palm led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 748.00 per share, followed by Beta Glass Company (+10%), Dangote Sugar Refinery (+10%) and UPDC (+10%). On the losing side, Daar Communications came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 7.81% at NGN 0.59 per share, followed by Prestige Assurance Company (-5.56%), Industrial & Medical Gases (-4.3%) and NPF Microfinance Bank (-4.25%). Royal Exchange recorded the highest volume of 104 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (83.9m), Access Holdings (55.6m) and Zenith Bank (34.2m).
