MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 933.23Million shares were traded in 20,500 deals, with a market value of N17.952billion. This represents a 98% increase in volume, a 27% increase in value, and a 0.2% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 72.79trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 115,429.54basis points, reflecting an increase of 770.43basis points (0.67%) but a YTD increase of 12.15% from the previous day’s 114,659.11basis points.
In total,  128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 50 gainers and 24 losers. May & Baker Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 15.40 per share, followed by Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank (+10%), LivingTrust Mortgage Bank (+10%) and Stanbic IBTC Holdings (+9.98%). On the losing side, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 112.55 per share, followed by Conoil (-9.99%), Nigerian Enamelware (-9.98%) and University Press (-9.84%). Tantalizers recorded the highest volume of 420 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (35.4m), Zenith Bank (34.7m) and Computer Warehouse Group (29.8m).
