MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 622.64Million shares were traded in 17,044 deals, with a market value of N16.124billion. This represents a 20% increase in volume, a 60% increase in value, and a 0.15% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 70.89trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 112,427.48basis points, reflecting an increase of 411.53basis points (0.37%) but a YTD increase of 9.23% from the previous day’s 112,015.95basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 32 losers. Skye Shelter Fund led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 226.60 per share, followed by Honeywell Flour Mill (+10%), SCOA Nigeria (+10%) and Industrial & Medical Gases (+9.96%). On the losing side, Conoil came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 268.30 per share, followed by Learn Africa (-9.98%), Transcorp Hotels (-9.97%) and Julius Berger Nigeria (-9.94%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 108 million traded shares, followed by Legend Internet (61m), United Bank for Africa (55.7m) and Guaranty Trust Holding (41.2m).
