MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 512.17Million shares were traded in 16,711 deals, with a market value of N17.116billion. This represents a 25% increase in volume, a 73% increase in value, and a 5% increase in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 70.56trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 111,902.61basis points, reflecting an increase of 296.39basis points (0.27%) but a YTD increase of 8.72% from the previous day’s 111,606.22basis points.
In total, 128 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 39 gainers and 28 losers. University Press led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 5.61 per share, followed by Learn Africa (+10%), Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (+9.98%) and Honeywell Flour Mill (+9.95%). On the losing side, Academy Press came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 4.05 per share, followed by Abbey Mortgage Bank (-9.96%), Skyway Aviation Handling Co. (-9.94%) and Nigerian Enamelware (-9.88%). Japaul Gold and Ventures recorded the highest volume of 58.9 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (48.2m), Custodian & Allied (37.5m) and Guaranty Trust Holding (29.5m).
