MARKET OVERVIEW
At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), a total of 475.56million shares were traded in 17,575 deals, with a market value of N13.899billion. This represents a 16% decrease in volume, a 27% decrease in value, and a 6% decrease in the number of deals compared to the previous trading day.
The current equities market capitalization stands at NGN 68.11trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 108,362.10basis points, reflecting an increase of 1,662.60basis points (1.56%) but a YTD increase of 5.28% from the previous day’s 106,698.50basis points.
In total, 126 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 42 gainers and 25 losers. Nestle Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1,210.00 per share, followed by Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (+10%), Ecobank Transnational (+10%) and Beta Glass Company (+9.98%). On the losing side, Guinea Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.7% at NGN 0.63 per share, followed by Daar Communications (-6.78%), VFD Group (-6.59%) and Wapic Insurance (-6.07%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 104 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (38m), United Bank for Africa (30.7m) and Sterling Bank (27.2m).
