At the close of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX), 939.41Million shares were traded in 9,098deals, amounting to a market value of N12.814Billion. Compared with the previous trading day (Monday December 9), today’s data shows a 115% increase in volume, a 0.4% decrease in value and a 4% decrease in the number of deals. The Current equities market capitalization of the Nigerian Exchange Ltd is NGN59.53trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) closed at 98,206.97Basis points, increase 99.45Basis Points, representing a 0.10% increase, and a YTD increase of 31.34% as against the previous trading day’s close of 98,107.52Basis points.
Cumulatively, 128 NGX equities participated in trading, ending with 37 gainers and 21 losers. Golden Guinea Breweries led the gainers with 9.93% share price appreciation closing at NGN 6.53 per share, followed by Guinea Insurance (+9.8%), Tantalizers (+9.77%) and Africa Prudential (+9.7%). On the losing side, John Holt came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.96% at NGN 7.23 per share, followed by Haldane McCall (-9.91%), Morison Industries (-9.89%) and Lafarge Wapco (-7.8%). Wapic Insurance recorded the highest volume of 458 million traded shares, followed by Sterling Bank (138m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (30.3m) and United Bank for Africa (28.7m).
